ABOUT: The Growing Chicago: $10K Business Plan Pitch Contest is open to all Illinois residents seeking to start or expand a business in the United States. At time of entry, participants must be physically located in the State of Illinois, 18 years of age or older, and must create and submit a business plan through the online video platform, Votigo. Once online voting concludes, the top five entries with the most votes will move on to present their video and business plan at the Access to Capital: Money to Mainstreet Event where the attendees of the event will choose the winner.
In conjunction with the contest, all top five entries will be eligible but not required to be featured on Seed Chicago’s Kickstarter page to launch their own crowdfunding campaign. Seed Chicago was developed by World Business Chicago as an initiative of Mayor Emanuel’s Plan for Economic Growth & Jobs by way of assessing and expanding Chicago’s economy through curating local crowdfunding campaigns via the Kickstarter platform. Contestants who would like to start their Kickstarter campaign following the contest must register through the Kickstarter platform in order to qualify to be a part of an upcoming Seed Chicago page at www.kickstarter.com/seedchicago. WHERE: The contest is just one element of the company’s upcoming Access to Capital: Money to Mainstreet Event in Chicago, taking place on May 22nd from 8:00AM to 5:00PM at Navy Pier. The upcoming one-day Chicago Access to Capital: Money to Mainstreet event is focused on helping small businesses gain access to capital and credit by demystifying the process and providing education, prompting preparation, and connecting businesses to a broad range of lenders.
